So my t6.1 is telling me oil change is due in 1000 miles, van is on flexi service so it’s done 16500 miles in 19mths.
Decided to phone for 1st service quote Scottish dealer and then got a price from breeze (Southampton) to compare about £50 difference!
(Cheaper was south which I was surprised £400).

Breeze was telling me it should be serviced yearly and never heard of flexi. Both could do the service super quick within days!
Are people now going indie as main dealers use to be super busy.
Oh and Scottish garage was telling me my brake fluid needs changing at 2yrs.
All the info I have says 3yrs from new then at two year intervals, is that right.

Brake fluid is at 3 years from new then every 2 thereafter. Indie would likely be more cost efficient but providing they have full diagnostics and know the vehicle-many on here would recommend a good indie. Yearly servicing recommended for lower yearly mileage, towing or if you like heavy braking etc. Flexi for long journeys, eco driving, light loads etc. The dealer can adjust these options according to usage.

Yep, oddly Breeze could book me in very quickly and that surprised me. I could have had it done the following day but I wanted a Wedensday morning first thing appointment which again was the Wednesday coming.

I have it done annually and now 10years old, so I probably do the next one. I typically bought the service packs so it was cost effective.

I have a Volvo and they wanted £550 for a service with fuel filter, on a 10yr old car, so I did it myself for £150 and 2.5hr of my time. If they said £400 I would have probably paid it.

As an aside, I’m curious how VW have managed to stretch the fuel filter replacement to 40000km?

When did diesel become so clean?
Worn injectors anyone?

I’ve always changed fuel filters with oil (10000km).

Is it yet another way to convince fleet buyers it cost next to nothing to run a VW or the fact you need to remove half the engine to get at it!!

They are more worried I’ll miss a pollen filter change.

Dealers work shops with no lead times sometime is going on, ok I only tried two has everyone switched to transits now.

I have used Southampton Breeze a few times now. I find them friendly and informative and so far, very efficient. In this instance, I would celebrate the short lead in period.

Apparently the manufacturer has recently amended this. Dealer informed me that Brake fluid change is now at 2 years from new and then every 2 years.

I don’t think anyone really knows what should be done and when anymore-we rely on dealer information which seems to vary and we rely on Forum and internet info which also seems to vary. I have not been provided with a hard copy service book which I would have preferred, so I have to rely on other means.
Just hope someone can definitively say and provide the VAG evidence to back it up. Just a thought-if the brake fluid was not done at 2 years due but was at 3 and a warranty claim was made for a brake system fault, would it be a ‘wriggle out’ scenario?

That’s what I thought. Not worth taking a chance as it’s only £79 so I’d prefer to get it sorted just in case. This is what the dealer sent me.
