We have spent 6 weeks camping in Europe in ours (retired couple) for the last two years and loved the freedom. This year, we made it as far as Slovenia which is wonderful. We tend to travel in May/June.
We always book in advance of leaving the UK but are getting a bit braver now so if we don't like somewhere, we move on. There are some fabulous sites out there. But leave the driveaway awning at home because European pitches are generally smaller than ours.
Take loo rolls to Italy, although things are improving there now.
Read the forums for advice and take an open mind.
