Have you previously owned a camper or is this a completely new experience?
We moved from a conversion to an ocean and found it an interesting but expensive experience. Expensive because our ideas changed so much between vans so it was our problem. Although we found the storage similar in volume, it is used in a different way. This has resulted in us being more disciplined and carrying less and that must be a good thing!
I hope you get out and about soon. Autumn can be lovely but we find the evenings are too long after the clock change so tend to prefer days out instead. Long walks and hot picnics!

As one fairly new Cali newbie to another newer newbie, one thing I can assure you is that you''ll definitely find more than a few willing hints and tips, and with time if you're patient you can learn a whole bunch from numerous posts about all the things you might otherwise never realise about your van and its occasional foibles. More often than not whenever I've wondered why does it do this, is this working properly, am I doing this right, etc, usually I've found the answer buried here somewhere before having to ask.
I'm sure you'll find your van turns out to be the portal to a freedom we only really discovered after getting ours. Trouble is, finding time now for all those mundane things life entails when you'd rather be off and away somewhere.

I suppose like any new vehicle, write yourself a checklist of the key functions (driving and camping) and make sure they all work okay, and check that the once in a lifetime stuff is present (roof tie down kit, inside table strap, jack, water cap key, alloy key ).
