Navigation System is it any good ?

My we connect plus has run out recently after 3 years .
Does that render the sat Nat use less now ?
No. It’ll still work perfectly. You just won’t get new map updates. And it won’t have traffic info so won’t route around traffic.

So without we connect plus , am I right the map updates won't automatically come through ?
That’s right. But then roads don’t change all that often anyway.
My subscription ran out Jan 2025. That means sat nav won't work properly untill I renew it ?
It’ll work fine offline. And you can all other sat nav apps for free using CarPlay/Android Auto

Android Auto ??
What is that and how's does it operate ?
Think needs usb stick , my entertainment system not got 1 visible on front .
What about bluetooth ?

So without we connect the sim card is rendered inactive .??

What cheapest way purchase this ?
How much does it cost on average ?
I presume can only buy from volkswagen

Does this system work same as a Tom Tom? Off satalite, do they also need subscription ? Sure they come with free lifetime map updates ?

Bit con of volkswagen pay lot money for there vans , then they also get you with yearly subscription ??

Don't you think they should gave free lifetime updates ?

Or is there a option purchase lifetime .

The Satnav will work fine, it just won't have the latest map data for new roads etc.

So sim card is permanently in credit for data ??
Or does it not need sim to work anyway ?
The embedded e sim will only work for map updates if you have a current We Connect.account.

Been thinking about all sat nav s , volkswagen and Google maps .
Think Tom Tom only one that does Map lane assist ?
Which is usefull on motorways .
Is this correct ?

Why not try it yourself? It doesn’t cost much. I use it 99% of the time out of preference.

Yes there is some lane assistance.

Ah Discovered were I'm going wrong with sat nav going AWOL , silly me .

While I'm driving I'm touching screen for settings , think that Is taking it to Off Road stuff and throwing my journey out ! !

Upon studying the manual iv found out you have be carefull , when following route ,were you actually touch the screen .

Come to conclusion just touch icons only ?
Menu the 3 horizontal lines , or forward or back arrows only , not anywhere else or throws your journey out ! ! , and you Assume the sat nav is not working correctly .

Think also if do press wrong area of screen , to get back to your initial journey, you press the S Icon with flag on it , then Select use route , that takes you back on track whilst driving,
Unless any one else knows another way ?
But difficult while driving down motorway .

Think moral of the story is , once you set your journey on sat Nav , don't touch the screen at all whilst driving ! .

Get a dog, and train it to bite you if you fiddle with anything whilst driving!

That’s maybe a bit on the extreme side. But I agree. The buttons on the built-in sat nav are unlabelled, most have incomprehensible icons and I have more often than not ended up stopping navigation when I just wanted to see a route overview or add a stop.

It’s a matter of tapping all the buttons and then trying to remember what each of them does.
