MY26 Configurator

For those who are interested, the Grand California MY26 configurator has landed on the www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk site.

Although ordered back in May, my build is a MY26 version. Therefore I am stilling waiting for the arrival of my GC600. It was scheduled for build week was 43, so I’m hopeful it will arrive before Christmas.

Just wondering whether anyone has took delivery of a MY26 yet in the UK?

Thanks for posting I was wondering when the configurator would be updated. I'm similar situation to yourself, ordered in May and they have confirmed mines a MY26 with build week 43

Sounds like they’ll be ‘practicing’ on both of ours at the same time

True, just looked at the configurator which is good but I see that the brochure has not been updated so we don't get exact spec. I'm wondering do we get the new insulated black out systems which were said to be an option on the earlier YouTube videos

It’s such a shame there’s no Dune edition of the UK - 4 Motion on the 600 would be fabulous

I was hoping the Dune version would be launched soon in the UK but my enquiries reveal this unlikely sadly. I am in the throes of ordering a GC 600 and got a call yesterday from the dealer advising that the configurator had just been updated!

Out of interest what are the main reasons you are both trading up to a GC? I love our 6.1 but the idea of a fixed bed, hot water and loo and quite irresistible.

Sadly, I think you have nailed it in one.

Me and my wife absolutely LOVED our 6.1 Ocean, but after 3 years, and a good number of trips, it all became a bit too much effort.

Also we’re hoping to make more use in the winter months. We tried this in the Ocean and it was quite difficult. Especially in wet and windy conditions.

As I say, I’m certainly not knocking the 6.1, it was amazing. But eventually the time comes where you need a bit more…

Great question! I certainly haven’t raised the solar question. But as far as I can tell, the dealerships are in the dark the same as us, regarding to options. I assume best waiting until the MY26 brochure comes out. That may answer things a bit better than the on-line configurator…

I asked the exact same question of a local dealership. They seem equally in the dark and simply advise that 'solar collection' will not be available as an option UFN.

If these became available in the UK would seriously consider switching to a bigger van, as 5* promise is a great addition.

Can't understand VW not bringing the Dune to UK, surly it would sell.

I'd never trust the configurator anyway - the normal cali one is missing various things including art velours seats

Agree. We’ve been holding out all year for some news of something 4motion 600 shaped following the Crafter facelift. So disappointing that it all exists but they just won’t entertain it in the UK.

Perhaps an edge case but I’m willing to do my C1 if necessary.

We are starting to look at other options now but it’s hard to compete when you consider VW finance.

I emailed VW with reference as to when the solar panels would be available.
There answer was very long winded and gave no date as to when these would be available.

So apparently solar is coming back from September (saw a post on fb - not confirmed). And California Chris confirmed the Dune is coming to the UK. Nothing yet on a 600 4motion.

I'm slowly collecting the parts to retrofit "4motion" to our 600!

It's actually a very easy completely bolt on retro fit except for one part, namely the 4wd gearbox has an output spline to drive the bevel box (the part that turns drive 90degrees and fires it backward to the rear axle/haldex unit) and that part is NOT fitted to the 2wd spec transmissions, and it fits inside out, not outside in, ie you have to remove and strip the trans to fit it.........

When my van comes out of warranty in Sept this year i'm going to do the conversion. Can't decide if i'm going to go straight to an aftermarket haldex controller to allow a better low speed locking option or not.
