Multiple safety system failures

My lovely 2022 Cali Ocean is not feeling well.. a couple of days ago I had multiple warnings for systems failures, incl adaptive cruise control, front assist, side assist, traffic monitoring, road sign recognition, park assist etc... it's a couple of weeks before SMG Tonbridge can take a look, so I want to eliminate this being a simple fuse controlling some onboard safety computer. I cannot seem to identify a fuse that may control the brain for these systems... everything else is functioning mechanically and it drives fine, except a constant fan on in the engine (engine temperature is fine, it is something to do with the sensor failure).

Any insight from anyone on what system manages all this, what the fuse might be called or any other advice... Fortunately I am still in warranty (just), in case this is a complete computer failure.

ABS sensor failure can throw up multiple apparently unrelated error codes. If you have an OBD II reader you might be able to get a more precise indication of whats wrong. Doesn't sound like an onboard ECU failure.

Probably one of the hub sensors, a failure usually results in various unrelated error warnings. It has happened to me twice and on each occasion my mechanic said not to worry and keep driving, just get it booked for repair.

I had my windscreen replaced on my car which threw up these messages afterwards. Something to do with a calibration not being done or a faulty windscreen which put the calibration out. Had to wait for a new windscreen which sorted it.

Most likely the forward looking camera, either blocked, obscured or completely offline. The camera looks through the top centre windscreen.

I would check the area is absolutely clean on the outside, there isn’t sign of misting.

It could be another one of the ADAS sensors or ECUs but camera would be my first place to look.

As someone else has already stated windscreen changes normally require a calibration routine to be run when the glass is changed. Newer cars now require the camera to have a heating element in front of it to address misting

If you have VW assist call them , they will either fix it or get you a priority booking at your dealer.

Tell them you feel it's not safe to drive and they'll come out .
Make sure to ask for a VW assist technician

IMO it's a wheel speed sensor and is an easy quick and cheap fix
VW assist may be able to fix it at your home , if not they will identify the issue fully and get you to a dealer as a priority

thanks, the ODB reader showed about 30 error messages, so it was difficult to interpret a root cause, but I don't think it is ECU because that controls a lot of engine things too I think.

I was hoping to find a blown fuse somewhere, but trying to work out which fuse and take them all out to check was too much for my willpower. Like you say I guess simply a sensor failure somewhere.. hub sensors related to wheel speed from googling, and someone else is suggesting that too - not sure I understand why that would trigger problems with front and rear radar, start/stop and other things too, but I think I will just need to wait until my diag booking. in fairness, the van does need a clean haha, but I assumed it was not that simply due to the number of errors all round the van.

I have the same issue on a 2023 Ocean. It comes and goes. I suspect a wheel sensor or brake pressure switch. I am going to book it in...again.

interesting, I might try that just to see if someone will come out... I think I'll wash the van first though just in case it is as simple as a blockage like suggested by vbk1975. Thank you.

The challenge with these systems is that they use multiple sensors and signals to provide the feature, the radars, park aid sensors and cameras all act together to provide coverage around the vehicle and at different ranges. As soon as one of the sensors or signals is compromised, then multiple features stop and because they are largely considered driver assist features, you get a message to tell you each individual feature that isn’t working, to ensure you have been informed and thus don’t expect them. So one thing can generate a large amount of fault codes and messages.

The bit that dealer system has is the ability to read all the fault codes and then give recommendations based on the fault pattern(s)

I am not saying it isn’t the wheel speed sensor, but traffic sign recognition uses a combination of map data and camera. Ie the map data is what they think the signs should be and then the camera data is used to try and correct, temp speed limits or new limits and there isn’t a natural linkage to wheel speed.

Any system that is linked to speed will be affected. Any time the system has to determine how fast you are going will be affected (shut down) , the system relies on all four wheel speed sensors working all the time .

I have a T6 and very recently had every warning light invented come up on my dash, TPMS, ACC, ABS, and more. The fault was a wheel bearing and associated sensors. It was covered under my All in Policy so they were a bit vague with which sensors and I got no paperwork to check myself.

Take a photo of the VW assist tablet screen showing all / any fault codes before they clear them off.

Annoyingly I have also just broken the latch on the sliding kitchen door (the one on the left)... I wonder does VW Assist Tech stretch to replacing bits of plastic haha..

Make sure to tell the VW assist guy that you've been bumped off , "please fix the issue"

Turns out it is all down to the ambient temperature sensor. This cannot be accessed without bumper removal it seems, so they are going to get me a priority booking at SMG Tonbridge. Although the engine is running / no risk in that regard - it does mean the particulates are building up and the engine could shut down to minimal performance if it reaches a certain threshold, hence the priority booking. Interestingly, in this circumstances, if SMG don't have a courtesy vehicle then one is provided from VW/AA themselves.
I didn't screenshot his screen with the errors as there were pages and pages of them. It took him a little while to work through them to get to the root cause.

Enjoy tour courtesy vehicle, call the dealer prior , if they don't have one call the VW assist and advise accordingly, they will have a vehicle waiting fir you at the dealers or close by
