Hello all. I’ve always ensured my pop roof is only lowered when it is completely dry and in 2 years I’ve never had an issue.
However, when opening up the roof last weekend whilst on a trip I noticed that the inside of the bellows front panel had mould spots in the material. My van was in for a repair the week prior and I noticed that when my garage cleans the van for me (very nice of them) they used a jet washer on the roof. I’m thinking that this could have caused some water ingress but I’m unsure. Has anyone any experience of this please? It doesn’t seem a major issue at the moment but I need to remove the mould spots without staining the light grey fabric. Can anyone advise me on how to do this please?
Thanks for reading!

Mine was replaced under warranty with the same issue. Never found out why it happened. Not sure if you’ve got that option.

Never had this problem but interested to hear and be warned about it: however without your confirming the age of your vehicle in the post or avatar it is hard to know which pop top fabric you have. For example is that 2 years from new - so the later twin skinned (dark outside light inside)?

I've never had this problem in 8 years of owning a T5.1. What I have noticed is if the roof is not used regularly through the winter months you can get a lot of condensation build up on the colder metal parts of the roof and scissor mechanism. To manage this I now lift the roof, on a dry day, and give it a good airing at least once a month. Hope this helps.

I had the bellows replaced under warranty last year as they allowed water ingress. My warranty ran out in Dec 25 so doubt they will replace again.
It’s obviously due to water getting in from somewhere, even putting the roof down when not fully dry. I’m usually very pedantic with these things but questioning myself atm.

Yes the later twin skin fabric. The mould is on the lighter inside fabric. From now on I’ll be checking it when I wash my van at home too, although I only use a hose for this not a jet washer.

Thanks. Will be doing this from now on.

I’m reading on google that white wine vinegar is the thing to do to try and remove it. I plan on trying to clean it over this weekend, fingers crossed it works

Interested to hear how you get on with that. I have some spotting on the headlining in the cabin near the front opening, I reckon that was from the front drains being blocked and the bellows getting wet as a result.....van is slightly nose down in the drive which compounds the problem. Drains now cleared thanks to the threads on this forum, also have bought some autoglym motorhome spray which appears to clean every substance known to man, so will give that a test over the next week or so
