Hi team, yes I know there are a fair few threads regarding LV and indeed there does seem to be a lot of confusion. I have just come off the phone with LV and they DO insure VW California’s that are factory built. What does not help is that they have a blanket statement saying that they do NOT insure camper vans! What is important is that you speak to them on the phone or there is a chance the website will reject the vehicle (although in my case it didn’t).
I rang them to check the confusion and asked for confirmation, including the ‘Bacon Butty’ test………… yes, if we had an unfortunate accident whilst cooking in the van it IS covered.
For the record the price was very competitive (our Mini is insured with LV) and as a multi vehicle policy the two together came in at a considerably lower figure than I currently pay for the van alone with NFU.
I need to assimilate all this information but on a balance of scale I will probably go with LV (after many years as a happy NFU customer).
I just thought I would add today’s findings to the mix for anyone else wondering about LV
