Leisure battery not charging when driven

Do your test again and turn the engine off, once the engine stops charging the batteries, you’ll see your current draw increase from the batteries.

hi guys my first thread but I seem to have another problem with our new t6 204 4 motion ocean. The leisure battery's don't seem to charge at all when driven. The G symbol seems to appear in the control unit but what else should be showing for example should I see a positive figure appear in the amps?

This is a long and useful thread - just replying to say my 2010 SE had the same problem - charging on hookup, but not on engine even though the control panel displayed the 'G' for generator symbol.

I found this out when off grid in France for 2 weeks - a couple of 2hour journeys seemed to make the batteries worse (probably just didn't make them better), and plugging in a voltage display in the rear compartment 12v socket confirmed that having the engine running didn't increase leisure battery voltage.

Following the advice on this thread, 80amp fuse under passenger seat checked and OK. 100amp fuse under Battery (and battery plate, and in a plastic screwed down compartment) checked and NOT OK, so replaced with a midi fuse from eBay. Now all tested and working. Thanks to the contributors who have advised on this one.

I had a tow hitch fitted a couple of years ago and probably haven't seriously tested engine charging since then (especially since the control panel displayed the G) so who knows, maybe that caused the problem. And might again when I connect up a trailer.

As someone said, this job is not for the faint-hearted - I needed a full socket set with extension and offset, T25, small socket set for the fuse fitting, circuit tester, voltage tester. And torches since I was in my garage. And working with a big battery with exposed terminals has to be done with care.

If there's an easier way to diagnose this problem with removing all that stuff it would be good to know
