Key fob mystery

Rather strange…I was in rural Cambridgeshire over the weekend and suddenly neither of my key fobs worked. Well not reliably anyway unless standing right by driver’s door and pointing through window at dashboard - sometimes it worked that way.

Both keys acted in the same way. Doors all closed properly etc. Able to lock/unlock by putting key in passenger door lock.

It was very hot and there was little to no mobile signal, in case any relevance in that.

Once back in Cambridge everything returned to normal again, so doesn’t seem to be a battery problem.

Anyone know what might have caused this temporary aberration? Maybe I’ve missed something obvious.

I’ve seen it many times with cars from different manufacturers if there is a mast nearby, moving the vehicle a couple of feet can cure the issue

Cambridge? It'll be the 'silicon fen' ...all that high-energy intellectual buzz is affecting the locking mech.
