So I see from the vw website that all 4 cylinder diesels from 2021 will take HVO.
They have subsequently approved use in vehicles from 2020, and say that older vehicles are currently being successively approved.

They suggest that one ask the local dealer to confirm whether older vehicles will accept HVO, the dealer will then send you a new fuel cap sticker. I’ve asked my dealer three times and received no answer as yet.

Has anyone else asked vw this question and received an answer in either direction?

For owners of newer vehicles, have any of you used HVO? And if so how does the price compare with current diesel prices?

Thanks
Matt

Had no idea what you were on about, so just googled this:
Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is a high-quality, renewable paraffinic diesel alternative made from waste fats and vegetable oils. It acts as a "drop-in" replacement, reducing net
emissions by up to 90% and reducing
and particulate matter, without needing engine modifications. HVO is biodegradable, non-toxic, and has a storage life of up to 10 years.

This link showed up on the german caliboard forum just this week: https://www.volkswagen-nutzfahrzeug...ilfreiches/xtl-dieselkraftstoff.html#freigabe
From that ‘Freigabeliste’ it appears that all Euro 6 diesel engines from 2015 onwards have been approved for HVO use. With the very slight caveat that that list might only specifically apply to vehicles manufactured for the German market. I don’t think there is any difference concerning the engines.
