German Emissions Sticker

We are going to be travelling through Germany on main autobahns later this week ( and staying at a campsite for one night just north of Heidelberg).
Just picked up on requirement for a Green Emissions sticker (I have a 2024 6.1 Ocean). Too late to order now before we leave.
As we are not visiting any cities can anyone advise if I am risking getting a €100 fine? Any recommendations of where to buy one if necessary when I’m in Germany? Thanks.

The German tuv is pretty strict and our cars are tested every 2 years to monitor emissions. T6.1 is issued a green sticker with a 4 rating even though my van is Euro 6.

If not entering a city center, no sticker needed.

You only need to have this sticker if you enter any 'milieu zone'. This would mean only if you go into towns and city centers. Enjoy!!

We drove down through Germany from Amsterdam to Switzerland last August and had no problems. We were in Dusseldorf, Cologne, Wuppertal, Rüdesheim (a stop in Spöck for our Star Trek fan daughter) and Freiburg for overnight stops and had no problems.
The German embassy says the Umwelt Zones should only be entered by vehicles meeting the relevant EU standards - these are shown on a panel below the main sign. Tourist vehicles should also have the sticker.

As mentioned above, the emissions sticker is mostly just needed in cities. If you should want to get a sticker while in Germany, the easiest route is probably to walk into a VW dealership.

It’s like, france, only if you are intending going into city centres you will need one. Went to Munch 2 years ago and stayed in a campsite well outside of city. Didn’t need one. If you go to Austria and you’re under 3.5kg in weight you don’t need one, but you still need to drive under 100kmph

An alternative view is that, for what the sticker costs, having it neans not having to worry whether you have accidentally slipped into the inner city boundaries.
My understanding is that once bought they don't expire.
