Front Scissor hinge pop up roof

While raising my pop up roof earlier today it did not fully extend on the drivers side .After a close inspection the front scissor hinge has some how become bent and will not fully close leaving a small gap around the right hand side of the roof .
Does anyone have any ideas as to how this could have happened and any advice on replacing the bent hinge would be greatly appreciated
