Anyone had a problem with the fridge catch breaking. The lid won't stay shut when you press it down. It appears that the spring that pushes the catch back has broken. Is this part available, how easy is it to replace?

They replaced the whole fridge lid I believe, from memory it had a different catch on it...

Thanks fairly confident it's a spring that's broken in the catch, so replacing lid wouldn't help. Ideally need to find someway to replace spring or catch.

The Part Number is in Post 4.

Unfortunately it's a t6.1 and the catch is in the trim underneath the lid, not in the actual lid.
Have you been to the local VW parts department. With your VIN they should be able to locate the part.
Unfortunately LLL Parts doesn't have a complete Parts catalogue for the T6.1 as yet.

We're on holiday in Germany at the moment, I'll try that as soon as we get back.Thanks.

Called in at the local dealers, they have 3 in stock in this country. Purchased one for 47 pounds, should arrive Thursday. They have given me a breakdown of the kitchen parts and photos of the part, the fun will start finding out how to replace the old one.

Success replacing the button. Fairly straightforward, you need Allen and torx screwdriver bits and a glass sucker to help pull the fridge up. Roof up and bed up remove fridge lid including hinges. Unplug leads from bottom of fridge. Remove 3 screws from each side of fridge. Attach your sucker to base of fridge and pull. It's a tight fit but will come out. There is one lead that stays attached. Lay the fridge to one side and using a trim removal tool force the button out. Push the new button in and reverse the procedure. All should be well again.

By any chance do you have the part number for the T6.1?

We have found the receipt for the part from October 23. It is S W7LA 068 769 N/STOCK BUTTON Total 48.72 pounds Inc vat . Ordered from my local vw van centre.

Hi, my fridge button broke 3 weeks into a 6 week tour of France, last month. Many thanks to Garrycotic, i followed your instructions and was able to change the switch myself. The only bit which took abit of effort was getting the soft cap screws out which hold the hinges on. I had to drill one of them out as it rounded off. Also a fault did come up when i unplugged the fridge, but it cleared when i plugged it back in. The new switch was £59, which i thought was ott, from Derby van centre. It did come next day tho. Please see attached photos as i think a few people will have this problem, which is a week spring in the switch.

Hello guys.

I have this same problem but I cannot lift the fridge. It seems to be glued to both side walls.

Tried with the suction tool but no chance. It doest move.

in also trying from the inside but there is no chance either. The lip it's too deep Infront of the fridge

Is there any other way?

Have you taken the screws out from each side. Two accessed from the wardrobe and two accessed from the cupboard on the right? Don't forget also to unplug the fridge at the bottom.

You are right there are 6 screws. 3 from inside and 3 from the cupboard.

The fridge must be unplugged b4 or once you lift it?

You can get your hand through the circular opening in the side of the cupboard and unplug the fridge otherwise it won't lift very far.
Thank you so much.

Now one issue is that one of the bolts got rounded off from the fridge lid. And the thread also seems to be rounded off too.

This has helped a lot.

The question I have is whether or not the button is broken or it is just that the metal clip has just come off the latch of the inside button.

I had the same problem with the screw. I had to carefully drill the head off the small round head bolt , but once done the thread does come out. I think the thread is M4 which i ran a tap down before replacing the screw. If it has stripped you will need top retap the next size up, M5. The fridge does lift out but you will need to raise the roof. You cannot get the switch out without removing the fridge.
