Earth Shunt - do I need to disconnect batteries?

Hi Guys,

About to follow the Earth Shunt guide but it doesn't mention anything about disconnecting the batteries.

What you all think is this necessary before replacing the earth shunt?

Always advisable I would say

Not a problem, but if you have any load you can get a few sparks as you reconnect, but you are not shorting anything out so don't sweat over it.

Thanks for the replies. Left them on, with no adverse effects. Job done but fridge still click off!
