Theres some intelligent people on here. I’ve just bought a DJI 1000 mini (don’t need anything bigger should suffice and I don’t need a massive inverter) but would like the extra battery for off grid. With the unit is a car charging cable that connects to the battery. As I understand it if I connect this to the starter battery under the drivers seat it will throw up an error code and it’s a trip to the dealer for it to be reset.

I’m considering wiring this up to the leisure battery, would this be ok? And would it also allow the DJI to send power back to the leisure/starter battery?

Thanks for any advice.

The starter battery is difficult to get access to and may need the removal of the passenger seat. I don’t know if anyone has done it yet or whether this would throw up an error and a dealer visit. I think I read that replacing the starter battery is now a dealer visit because of this.
You could certainly wire into the leisure batteries and would get the benefit of being able to charge it from the alternator, however you may find it easier to just use the cigarette lighter in the rear to get similar results.

Hello, i have the same dji and the same cable. i have a california t6.1 beach so i connected the cable to the agm battery under the seat, (positive to battery and negative to the vehicle chassis where the negative cable of the agm battery is connected). no error code, the important is to connect as described. in this way u can recharge dji when engine is on (up to 400W) and when is engine off the dji can also mantain the agm battery in good health ( i put the value at 12.3V in the app, so when it goes at 12,3V the dji 1000 mini charges the agm battery.

To stay safe with the original electrical stated of the California i decided to set in the DJI home app 200w to recharge the power station and 150w to charge the AGM leisure battery
