We a VW California 2008 with a webasto heater. A few weeks ago I posted because the heater wouldn't go on.... lights flickered and then shut down. People suggested an earth shunt.
We downloaded the guide, read all about it, took the cool box out but then chickened out and asked the local garage to fit the earth shunt and check all the fuses, because - as we were doing that - the van then wouldn't charge. They did this, checked all the fuses and identified that the fuse on the rear leisure battery had gone and one also under the bonnet. They also fitted a new control panel (off eBay). They have come to the end of what they can do but now we can't access the heater at all. The control panel now says 'heating not possible'. The heater did work once a couple of weeks ago, but then went really hot and wouldn't turn down, then when we tried to alter it, it went off and then wouldn't go on again. It looked like it would, then blowed out cold and the lights flickered and then went off. All the fuses have been checked. We have 2 brand new leisure batteries. The control panel just says this. The garage feel like there may be error codes behind this and that I need to take it to a webasto heater specialist. They say I might have flooded it. Any ideas good people?
