Depreciation

Stopped paying the TV tax years ago, just stopped paying.
My wife and I waited far too long to do this, hanging onto hope that the BBC would regain integrity.

Sadly, we are now witnessing the BBC's controlled demolition (recent UK Column news podcasts detail this well), but it has made itself into a lost cause, hence our decision to withdraw from a TV licence.

I expect some eye-watering redundancy payments to BBC journos, as the demise occurs, before they soon after join other media.

@FivetonesCali , I respect that you are in disagreement.

A few observations.

- BOTH the Ford and the new Transporter are expensive (in the UK at least, spec them up you’ll see). In a mad way this might help vw but both companies are screwed when the Kia pv5 and Chinese alternatives properly come to the uk in any volume.
- the electronic/electrical bug are the big thing that’s screwing this up the most. The situation with the new Cali is insane with all the battery draw issues (especially on the only model that offers anything new - the phev)
- on any of the new EV/PHEV platforms you have extremely restrictive policies to using the huge battery for recreation/camping so if you want to cook and heat overnight electrically you have to buy a higher spec battery system (price that up!)

Given all the other VAG losses this isn’t even their biggest crisis.

Back to the topic:
- The new Cali used prices will likely tank while there remains any doubt about the electronics/electrical systems.
- Earlier models will surely retain their value for the moment, especially given the government refusal to support a sensible move to EV by screwing up the build out of a charging infrastructure and raising taxation on EV too early and there’s very few EV options for environmental minded camper owners.

Not to mention the 3p per mile for even driving an EV from 2028...

Appalling!

As the guy said, its sad really.
And that’s it, right there! Everything we all know and feel about the way VW has gone.

For me personally? I would LOVE an electric van, but I have to say it won’t be a VW (as it happens I have recently driven the new E Transporter and after the initial novelty wore off I realised it’s not for me…….

(Now, I wonder what a lwb Kia PV5 would be like? ………..)
