Been having trouble with tyre walls failing on continentals when I first bought the van felt like 4 flat tyres increased pressures to around 49lb and I felt the 103v load rating as no where near enough so fitted 4 crossclimate 235/60/17 106v I'm very impressed so for anyone considering tyres make the load rating 106v world of diffrence

Just wondering why you went for the 235/60r17. There are lots on here that fit that size, especially the swamper type wheels. I was going to fit 235/55r17 to my Davenports this year as I wasn't sure about insurance for non standard tyres.

The speedo reading will be affected using that tyre size. 30 mph on the Speedo will be a road speed of 31.02 mph, 70 mph equates to 72.38. Some vehicles can have the speedo recalibrated for different tyre sizes, don’t know if the Cali can.

The swamper de facto standard is 235/65 17, so bigger again.

Probably be about perfect, my van does around 68mph at 70mph on the speedo.

Just had a look around the forum for tyres/ insurance.

Can't find much, apart from welshgas saying, contact your insurance as they are non standard.

So, all you swamper drivers, what did the insurance say?

If I go with an aspect ratio of 60 or 65, I will need a spare of the same size. Will a 235/60r27 or 235/65r17 fit in the carrier?

#g0cew, do you have a 235/60r17 spare? Does it fit under the van?

Our stock tyres are the Continental VanContact Eco -215/60/17 and have a load rating of 109.

Just got some Continental AllSeasonContact 2 for my electric Peugeot which are really nice tyres.
Same 109 load rating so thought I might (in time) get some for the Cali.

Or do I need to stick to a "VAN" tyre and get something like Continental VanContact A/S Ultra?

Just to confirm why I went 106v the 235/55/17 103v s were deteriorating in the tyre walls personally I felt 103 s were not strong enough in the tyre wall they looked like they were falling apart I had a full set of 215/60/17s 109 s these are far too hard as for the speedo error that I will have to check but the one thing for me was the safety factor not been far on the new tyres but for me it's transformed the van

The pressure these tyre run at change things as well. The 215's run at around 54psi. The 235's are 42-45ps, so you are looking at 20% increase in pressure with the narrow tyres. Must be good for mpg but not comfort.

Well Phil your possibly right the 54 psi on 109s is too hard my vans never been good on fuel and yes I considered the tyre issue I've tried both tyres nothing in it mines the 199 motor best I can get is about 38mpg not moaning about it I can only think vw went to suv tyres was improve the ride quality
