Coolant in rear fan

Hi! VW T4 California 1991-diesel.
Fan in the back was rattling and in no longer working, was expecting to change only the fan, but since theres coolant, should i be worried or is a small leak OK?
2-3cm of coolant.

The coolant is engine coolant so any leak should be fixed .
