Control Panel telling me roof is up when it's not!

I have a VW T5 California 2011. It has an issue with the control panel which is situated in the roof (controls the roof, fridge and heating). It is telling me the roof is open, when it's not and not letting me access menu or operate the roof. It also does the warning beep as you drive. Tried unplugging and plugging back in, but to no avail. The heater and fridge, which are on separate buttons, still work as you don't have to access the menu for those functions, so think it may be an internal electrical fault maybe? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

My first thought would be the roof sensors?
