Hi All,

Just got our new T7, love it so far, apart from the multiple apps I seem to need to do basics :)

I think I am about on top of it, but it's really confusing. It was even flipping between English and German, just to make it that bit more 'fun'

I will primarily use Android Auto for navigation, voice control etc.

I note that the infotainment system does not have the 'California' app built in (but I can use my phone or control panel). This seems odd to me but then I saw a video from California Chris that showed how you can use the shop.

Anyway after going through lots of menus and signups, and agreeing to share god knows what information, I got access to the shop...but all it lists under 'Products' is 'Data Plans' which I don't want/need

Is there some trick to getting access to the actual app store? It showed that VW Connect and VW Connect Plus was Subscribed/Free, so I don't think I need anything else?

Side note, what happens to this when the van is sold? Does it allow someone totally different to register it even though the VIN is now tied to me? Never quite understood how that works.

Thanks :)

You need to download the Volkswagen App and the California App from the Playstore for your Android phone.

Thanks, yeah done that - but I'd also like to have the California app controls on the main infotainment system too which means I need to use the 'Shop' on the Infotainment

In other words, achieve this:

I don’t dislike all the techy stuff, but as long as I can do what I need to do, I’m not too fussed about switching things on and off through various apps. I’ve “navigated” through everything I use in my van without the app, that works for me. Then sometimes I’ll find something out by accident which is a bonus.
So without the use of an app I can

Unlock and Lock the van
Start and Stop the Van
Get radio 2 on the infosystem
Switch on/off aircon
Work the various lights
Use the pad in the rear passenger area to check everything on that and switch to Camper mode
Put the PopTop up and down
Turn on the single gas hob.
Charge my phone on all the USB and cigarette light ports
And probably more…
Saves stressing about apps not connecting through Bluetooth and such like.
I use ApplePlay through Cable for navigation
I log on to the App for info in the digital manual when I need to.
So far so good.

Seems odd. I agree not the most intuitive. I set this up last month and whilst it allowed me to click to download the California app and a few other things to the infotainment system, it didn’t complete for ages and I had to ring vw support who said they did nothing yet it magically worked. I used chatGPT to guide me as other online support wasnt clear.
