Hi - juts inside the tail door is the cupboard with shelves and which houses the gas bottle. The hinged door has lugs top and bottom which hook it closed. I've managed to snap those off. I now have a VW repair kit for the door but I can't work out how to take the old mechanism apart or put the new one on!! Photos show the door, the problem and the replacement kit..... Anyone have any instructions? I am guessing I may have to prise/click the open/close handle off but don't want to risk that without knowing what I am doing!!

1. The door, showing the mechnism:

2. Where the ends have snapped off:

Hi Mike, Same here. I wonder did you get any instructions on how to replace the catch please. cheers

Same here. No idea to replace without doing damage.

Pure educated guess would be to see where the little circlips that are in the repair kit pictures are fitted. I suspect if you remove them it will unlock the puzzle.

Hi
Did you complete the swap? I’m in the identical situation you were in and haven’t a clue so would appreciate any input on how you did it.
Thank you !

Hi, is there any info on how to remove the snapped locking mechanism and replace with the repair kit - same has happened to mine by the garage!

Ah, managed to remove by sliding the little metal circlips out their fixing on the inside of the top and bottom fixed guides - then both poles (top and bottom) slide out from the top and bottom respectively …. lol, let’s see if I can slide the replacements in so easily!

Help Please - Hi all, so I purchased the hinged door repair kit (rear door - above the gas bottle). I cannot fathom out how and where the little springs go, assume hard up against the top and bottom plastic handle and their fittings near the top and bottom of the actual handle, any idea which way around they go, and where they ‘lever/push’ against between the handle and the fixing? TIA, Richie
