Buying a Conversion or Factory Built California

I got the best quote through LV but it said 'car' on the quote so I phoned them to check and they told me they don't insure campervans and it was a mistake on their system that they were able to quote. So the next best price was Admiral - same issue but when I phoned they said they do insure campers but it shows up as a car because of the DVLA system. I made them put that in writing just to be safe, but it might be worth you checking you're fully insured with LV.

Hi. That's interesting. I called LV to double check and they said it will be insured as a campervan. They confirmed the van and camping side of things were fully insured and agreed the market value. Is yours a California? Thanks.

Mine is a California yes. Interesting that we got two different responses. I might try them again at renewal as they were the cheapest.
