How long does it usually take to get an initial build date?

It depends on a variety of factors but largely down to vehicle specification.

Have you asked your dealer? They'd be able to look at any production restrictions likely to affect your chosen specification and advise further.

I got a provisional date (week 45) three weeks after placing an order with my dealer and a confirmed date (week 44) about two weeks later.

The times are pretty quick right now.
I ordered 29th September. originally told week 47 by dealer then decided to contact VWCS and was told week 45 confirmed.
Rang dealer today about something and told its in Build , not sure how long the process takes to completion but there after yours either sits and wait for transport to the port and then similar for a spot on the boat or you may strike lucky and get shifting through that part.
Will ring VWCS again tomorrow for an update.

Your order number which the dealer will have if they haven't provided you with it yet. But as you have been requesting them to go slow I guess its possible they don't have it yet?
