Just letting other Transporter users know engine management light came on Monday whilst driving through Spain diagnostics showed fault with " coolant bypass valve" apparently a common known fault with them. Now day 3 at garage been fitted this afternoon fingers crossed. Not covered here in Spain on warranty will need to claim back in UK. Total cost 560 euros, most inconvenient.

Common issue, a few of us had it, I drove on the orange light for well over a year.

Was covered on Warranty in UK when I eventually got fixed, should be the same in Spain.

Mine was done same day with service.

What year van is this?

The reason I ask is, as far as I know, the 6.1 isn’t fitted with this valve. Mine certainly isn’t.

We have a 2022 204 and had our bypass valve replaced under warranty by our local VW van centre earlier this year.

It would seem that the T6.1 204 engine does have this valve.

Are we discussing the same thing? Sits on the bulkhead, on the left as you stand in front of the van.
Mine doesn’t have it.

We have a September 2022 6.1 and had this done recently after the engine management light came on. A bit of a saga followed because after doing that and as going into the mot station the light came on again so I it would have failed and I couldn’t have it back. It took them weeks to diagnose the ACC unit had also failed (despite me mentioning that when I took it in, the warning only showed when I switched it on) and it took 10 days to get a new one from Germany. Only positive was that they gave me a nice electric ID3 courtesy car which was superb, an upgrade on the usual caddy.
