Hello
We bought a vw beach camper 2025 (1.5 diesel engine) last month.
I have come across an issue which is a pain for us.
We are parked in a camp in France and the vehicle is plugged in power however we still can't USB c charging points in the vehicle for charging mobile phones etc...
I dont know ow what the camping mode does but I have tried with it being switched on and also off.
The only way we can get power to USBc seems to be by pressing the ignition button (not starting the engine though).
Is there a way of having the USBc working without pressing the ignition button and also what are the pitfalls of having pressed the ignition button (air con off and also switching off the light)
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you
Shahriar Nabili

I assume you mean the USB C sockets on the dash. These are powered from the engine battery, so will only work when the ignition is switched on, to prevent the engine battery going flat.

I also meant the usbc ports on the back doors (for passengers) and also the one in the top up roof.
All of the USBc ports in the car.

Try turning camping mode on from the California app on the phone or on the screen in the rear.
I just checked and it turns on the four USB-C sockets in the rear (On Ocean spec)

Really appreciate the responses to this thread, have just come back from our first T7 camping trip and also couldn't get the rear or roof USB-C sockets workings. Thanks to the replies all now working perfectly

Our experience of the usb-c sockets is that they only work with the very expensive VW cables! Has anyone else had that experience?

That can't be. Usb-c is a standard that has nothing to do with VW. There are two types of cables, the ones that only supply power for recharging and the slightly more expensive ones that also carry data. Both types are readily available, you just have to read the label to get the appropriate one, no need to go to VW.

You'd think but the only ones we can get to work on a reliable basis are the VW branded ones. I have read other threads on this forum stating the same.
However, all cables work with the three pin sockets and USB ports, it is the ones in the cockpit that are just a bit more 'special'!

You haven't stated what it is exactly that you can't get to work.

I use usbc to lightening as well as usbc to usbc cables for my phones in my T6.1, none of them supplied by VW, and have never found there to be any problems.
