Awnings in Germany and France

Hi All, we're off to Germany and France soon. Is there any restriction on size of awning in general? Thanks.

Can't comment about Germany, but certainly in France you pay for your pitch and within reason can put whatever you like up. Never come across the "added extras" such as awnings etc that you see in the UK, which wind me up a treat..

Same, never had an issue in France and the pitches generally massive compared to the UK shoebox ones.

German resident here, I've never stayed at any campsite here that restricted the use of awnings. Might be an issue with big campervans but a Cali rarely takes up more than 50% of a camping pitch.

Everywhere on Mainland Europe I've been you get a defined pitch, stick up what you want

Mark your territory as some people will land grab unused parts of your pitch with bikes, clothes dryers, gas tanks, water tanks etc

If you are in Germany remember this key phrase and everything will be fine:

Das ist mein Handtuch auf dem liegerstuhl...

So, basically, get your towel down and it's yours....

Never had an issue in France, but pitches have always been huge.
