Are these seats leather?

These are the seats in my 2021 Ocean. I have not seen them anywhere else. They appear to be leather, but synthetics are so good these days I am not sure. Does anyone recognise them and if so can you confirm whether they are in fact leather, or synthetic? Are they VW original or after market? Thanks

They are after market, but they may be leather, and anyway look well made. They are not so dissimilar from my aftermarket from DK Schweizer:

There again there are some brilliant fake leathers.

If they are in the full sun in this current heatwave and are still comfortable to sit on, they are probably leather.

When I got my DK Schweizer my wife thought they looked a little plastic (though still very nice) so we found a small off cut and put it over a flame: smelt like burnt hair and did not melt ie was leather.

Erik, they look good whatever they are. If you do find out their maker and material, let us know.

Viktorgeorge, the pictures in your link are also fab. Have the seats worn well? In your original post you mentioned that other leathers / designs are prone to “buttock hollows” and potentially dropping on one side.
(Sorry, a bit off topic for you Erik)

@acer Yes, seats have worn well over 35,000 miles and 3 years of continental trips and still look like new: the driving seat gets the most wear and this is it taken just now.

That looks a real quality product :)
DK Schweizer do the fitting in Colchester however the covers are made for them in Malasia. They have proved to be high quality. For me they made the California both more practical (wipe-able) and classier. I originally specified the ugrade alcantara from VW with the car when I ordered, but changed my mind when I discovered that for almost the same price I could get genuine leather. I posted details of a few issues at the time when they fitted the covers and those with VIP membership can find my comments with advanced search, but DK Schweizer were attentive to those problems which they resolved albeit they were reluctant to admit theirr errors so I need to be a little forthwright initially. I suspect that they have not, anyway, repeated them, but if anyone decides to goes them for leather seats check that they trim around the rear head rests pillars neatly and also they put the cables back under the swivel seats exactly as found.

DK Schweizer do plenty of Californias they told me.

Thank you! I had concluded they are leather, but it is good to see they were done properly
