Anyone had a successful roof reseal on the GC600?

Our dealer has found the bonding is failing on our roof which has caused our leaks into the cup holders. The issue we have now is our dealer feels its too much of a job for them and are awaiting for advice from above. Has anyone had it done successfully and willing to share who the dealer is, so that I can try and get ours to speak to them on how it’s done as the van has been in the garage for way too long now with no end date in sight. Liverpool VW Van Centre have a specialist California technician who knows all about GC’s and is very good. They re sealed my roof and I had no more problems.

My van is currently at the Glasgow dealership getting the roof re sealed. They have sent it to a body shop. Slightly concerning that they said that along with MOT and service would take 2-3 days and it’s been away for 10 days and still apparently at the body shop. I might get a convertible van back.
They said that they need approval from VW to send out to 3rd party for work but they are not able to carry it out at dealership.
Based on the silicone in the bathroom that I needed to redo when the van was new, I don’t think the factory is very good at sealant either.
When I first noticed the leak I managed to locate a crack in the seal. As it was months before it could be seen I put a little clear silicone in the area and it seemed to stop the water getting in… to the cup holders anyway.
There also seems to be water collecting under the toilet cassette and I wonder if it’s coming from the roof seal and working its way down as don’t see any other cause for it.

Pretty much word for word on what we’ve been told, I do understand that if they aren’t confident in doing the work then I’d rather they don’t mess it up and cause damage but it’s the not knowing. We’ve had 3 brake light seals done before they found the crack in the sealant. As they couldn’t repair it before our trip to Europe, whilst the roof lining was down they taped it up on the inside but unfortunately water was still coming in. We took it back on our return where it’s just been sat awaiting further instruction from VW on what to do and if it needs to be sent to another garage. Other than this issue our dealer has been brilliant so I’m hoping a fix will be imminent

The worst of the sealant crack is the bed side of the bathroom so I guess it’s possible yours is the same and tracking down under the cassette. I’ve not noticed this on ours though.

Just picked van back up. Re-sealed roof. Nice to have some lovely white sealant again rather than the black marked old stuff. Wonder if this stuff will stay white longer.
Got a new step as well they tried the take apart clean and software update but needed replaced. Last replacement worked for two months. Hoping this lasts a bit longer.
Folk at Glasgow have been very good.

Great news, good to hear you got it back all completed. I’ll pass this info on to our dealer as we’ve just hit another hurdle!
Van went to their approved body shop to have the work done but it’s now got to go back to the dealer and await further instruction as they said the van is too high for the body shop to work on!
