Any apps that have suggested routes?

I hate route planning and the trying to work out what to see in an area, I wondered if there were any apps that have suggested routes, stops, campsites etc, UK and Europe? I got a few books for Christmas "Epic Van trips of Europe" etc. but frankly they are more of a loose suggestion rather than anything detailed.

I am a mountain biker and use Komoot (if anyone else has seen it) and it allows you to use others routes (which gives you the length, rough time and how difficult etc.) and then amend as appropriate to lengthen, shorten, change it to avoid narrow sections and of course change the start and stop locations, its brilliant and frankly saves loads of time, especially when you don't know the area. I guess I am looking for something similar (if it exists!).

I have seen one called Wildertrips but unclear whether its just like Google Maps rather than suggested routes?

Any help appreciated.

I haven't used it much but would Via Michelin do that?

Doesn't look like it from what i can see, nothing other than route planning with some ideas for stops, sort of does some of it but not all of it. But thanks for suggesting.

Eh? you did ask for "suggested routes, stops, campsites etc, UK and Europe" ........ apart from campsites it looks like that is exactly what it offers

Can’t see any suggested routes that others have done, or am I missing something? It looks like I need to know where I want to go and it does a route and suggests a few things to see? Was after something that others have done and would recommend… let me know if I have misunderstood how it works?

I gave Chat GPT a try and whilst it was OK, it was woefully inaccurate including sending me to campsites that weren't even open at the time of year I had told it I was planning, I guess as usual with Chat GPT, helpful but fraught with inaccuracies.

I have however found this, https://www.freeontour.com/en/routes which is pretty much exactly what I was looking for, exact routes and campsites that others have done, with in most cases a write up and length of time etc.

Quite different from Via Michelin. Might be useful for others?

Rough Guides or Lonely Planet?

as in my original post I have this 1773743144547.pngand others, but frankly they are more of a guide rather than an itinerary, which was more what i was looking for. Komoot (for bikes and walks) gives you routes and allows you to drag and drop to amend, lengthen, shorten etc. As above "free on tour" appears to have lots of routes including campsites, timing, photos and recommendations, so best i have found so far.

I was suggesting the general country guides which are a wealth of information. With imagination and self research you might be surprised what you discover rather than other people’s individual take on what is worth seeing and not necessarily yours.

When we plan a route trip the first thing we do is establish what WE want from the trip and look for what is available to suit our particular needs.

Understood, and great for you i accept, but that's not what I enjoy (especially the researching bit) and my original question was is there anywhere that has all of this and I can then modify based on what I think/would like. Thanks for the suggestion and I will take a look at the general country guides.

Have you tried MRA? Lots of users share their routes in the library, screen shot below shows current number for random area. The developers were talking about a camper slant earlier this year, not sure on progress.

That looks like exactly the sort of thing I am after but looks like currently only for motorcycles. Thanks though.

Use chatgpt. give as much context in terms of stops, driving time, camping requirements etc. it will give you a 95% solid suggestion.

I tend to use my routes on all vehicles, only difference is generally the accommodation and amount of luggage :)

Maybe post your query on their forum? Someone may have a bike route that's close to what you'd like and just needs some tweaking.

I have Komoot, great App, but like you wanted suggestions around me (or an area).
Been using All Trails for a while and seems to do a good job. Tell it where you are/where you're going and it'll look for routes and give you pictures of whats around the route.
