Hi All. I had my GC600 fridge turned on. Drove to my destination. Did not turn the fridge off directly but turned the red switch off. The next day-ish later, the battery is at 0%. I thought that the red switch stopped power going from the leisure battery, ie nothing would work. Am I wrong? Why would it drain? Battery is usually completely fine. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
How old is your leisure battery ?
For information i have changed mine after 4 year use.

Thanks. Mine is a year old. Since posting, I read some previous threads saying that the red switch does not completely isolate the leisure battery, so
presumably the loss of charge is due to me not switching the fridge unit off directly.

But you should still expect at least 2-3 days of fridge power before batteries empty

Thanks both. I hooked it up to the mains pretty quickly and gave it a good run out, so hopefully it’ll be okay. It is the second time in a year that it’s drained. Fingers crossed.

I think that you are lucky to get 24 hours. Mine is a year old and just makes it overnight.
I assume that the GC has the same compressor fridge as the T6.1? In usual UK temps, on 2-3 setting, the fridge should use no more than 350 - 500 watts in any given 24 hour period.

I believe that the Ocean has a Waeco 42 litre whilst the GC is Webasto 70 litre, but happy to be corrected. The problem is that whilst the Ocean has two leisure batteries, the GC has one.

Bigger fridge and fewer batteries - recipe for off grid disaster. That said, I guess the GC guys n gals usually pay for the EHU so can heat water for showers, etc also, unlike many of the smaller Californias.

It’s either that or, as a lot of people have done, gone down the Power Station route.
