Hi, we're planning to upgrade the RNS510 on our 2014 Cali SE to either an Alpine Alpine ILX705D or Pioneer SPH DA77 offering carplay. I understand the reversing camera will have to be rewired to suit, can anyone tell me if the camera module is easily accessible for this to be done?

Any comments on upgrading the head unit are welcomed, as there might be lots we haven't thought about.

Thanks!

If you have the right fitting kit / harness then this is easy.

The connection for the rear camera is behind the unit.

Have the same Alpine installed and find the software not well thought out and lacks features like reverse / speed attenuation and being able to connect 2 phones at the same time. It also sometimes drops wireless CarPlay connection then won’t reconnect without a reboot. It sounds good (with amps and all new speakers) but would much rather have had the Kenwood equivalent if it had been available at the time of install.

I fitted this Kenwood unit with the correct interface / lead which to my Cali, everything worked correctly, reverse camera / climate control displayed on screen.

I found it great, and chose it over the Alpine.

Wireless CarPlay worked well too, I didn’t try Android Auto.

Interface was super fast too

II ended up removing all my sound equipment (head unit, amp, sub) as sold the Cali.
