Hi all, looking for any advice on timings of the All-in service plan…

We paid for the extended 5 year warranty on our T6.1 which will end in May. At that time the van will be 5 years old (obs! :)) and will also be due the a DSG service (I understand this is due at 40,000 miles and we are currently at 39,500 miles). I would like to take out the All-in service plan at it appears good value (especially as we have separately paid for, and used, the VW roadside assistance for the past two years). However, I am unsure when the right time to do this is e.g.

1) I could start the plan in May 2026 and use it to for MOTs and services in May 2026 and May 2027 but assume pay extra for the DSG service in May 2026. This would give me a period of warranty and roadside assistance until May 2028.

2) I could pay for May 2026 service and MOT as normal, take out one year of roadside assistance, and then take out the All-in service plan in May 2026 (say 10 days before the van turns six years old. This would then give me a period of warranty and roadside assistance staggered two years later than Option 1.

I have probably many incorrect assumptions on the above and there are several things I have missed - as such I’d really appreciate any advice/challenge on what I should be considering/doing!

It also depends if you want your warranty to continue, or if you are happy to be ‘exposed’ until November.
I agree that All-In tends to be on offer in November.
I feel sure I read that you could take out the VW extended warranty on monthly payments, then cancel in November to take out the All-In. Perhaps a call to VWFS?

When you take out the plan, pay monthly, then when van gets to six years old terminate that plan and take out another two year plan. That is how to extend your warranty to 8 years without any breaks. Note that if you pay in full there will be no refund for early termination. This is what I am doing as advised by my dealer. Also it does not cost any more money. If you use any of the service or MOT elements then you will be charged for what you have used so be wise with timing and choice.

Thanks all, really helpful.
