Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some feedback or similar experiences regarding my T6.1 Kepler 6.

I recently took my van to the main VW dealership for a software update. Before dropping it off, the air conditioning was working perfectly and blowing cold. However, immediately after picking it up, the AC had completely stopped working.

I brought it back to the dealership. They claimed the AC system pressure was abnormally low (2 bars) but refused to provide the diagnostic printout to prove it. During this second visit, the workshop manager admitted in writing that they accidentally emptied the remaining refrigerant gas. Their AC recharge machine then broke down, so they handed the van back to me with a completely empty AC system.

I eventually took it to an independent shop for a vacuum test and a full recharge with a UV tracer. The result: absolutely zero leaks, and the AC is now working perfectly again.

My questions for the group are:

  • Is it possible that the engine software update caused a software glitch or lost the Climatronic basic settings, causing the compressor to shut down?
  • Could the VW technicians have accidentally depressurized the AC lines while performing the update?
  • Has anyone else experienced an AC failure immediately following a dealership software update?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
