Aftermarket Carpet for California Ocean Living Area? Need Size Advice

Hi folks, I'm trying to track down a carpet / mat for the living space floor in my California Ocean (T7). Unfortunately, VW can’t help they told me today there’s no part number available and it doesn’t appear on their books.

I'm wondering:

1. Has anyone sourced an aftermarket or custom carpet that fits this area? I’ve done a fair bit of searching and not found anything suitable as yet!
2. Or has anyone used off-the-shelf rectangular mats that work? It’d help a lot if someone could share the dimensions you used, then I can shop around or cut one myself temporarily.

Just spotted your not miles from me, the one I linked to were on show at Listers in Droitwich and the place that makes them is only in North Worcester : 5a Checketts Ln, Worcester WR3 7JW

If you are going to cut one yourself why not start with some automotive carpet and then get the edges either bound or taped. Automotive carpet is available online, you might find somewhere with a suitable size offcut. Then when cut to size & shape search for a local carpet fitter or shop that offers a binding service.
That what I did with my Beach as my needs were completely custom to fit around a self made kitchen pod.

Been chatting with Nick at rugsforbugs, quite helpful, T7 cali stuff is not listed on their website at the moment but if you email requirement they will do, he also said the T7 multi van stuff is not compatible with T7 cali

It fits well and seems pretty good quality.
You’ll end up rolling the carpet up when making up the downstairs bed as the seats have to come forward to lay down.

Could you cut it to fit exactly without it fraying at the edges (as you can with the marvel mats from dunelm)?

Yes that’s the VW one the part number is 7T0863733 KNI and can be ordered from any dealer. It’s quite expensive and usually on back order the parts guys never knew it existed but it does indeed.

Got mine for my T5.1 from Fat Bobs Emporium. Fronts as well, the living area are split in two so you can still move the seat. They all fit like a glove, definitely worth it.

My used T6 ocean came with an original carpet, that we removed because it was infuriating. It’s made in strips like the one from rugs for bugs, so in theory the tracks are useable but the floor is covered. In practice, the carpet jammed under the seat when moving the bed, the tracks still filled with dirt and the strips were in danger of causing people to trip. As a temporary measure I got two 60x90cm. They cover the floor area when the bench seat is fully back and can be stacked one on top of the other or rolled up when I need to pull the bed forward. They are thin enough to stay in place when opening the underseat drawer or light enough to easily roll back. Cost around £12 each and have lasted five years so far with regular machine washing. I cut a small slit in one to accommodate a tie down point for a dog harness, so there’s no corner lifted to trip anyone when the anchor is in the floor track. The mat hasn’t frayed and makes the whole thing sit neatly in place.
