I am just about to purchase two new 100 ah leisure batteries. They are to replace the original 85 ah batteries supplied with the 2017 cali. Just occurred to me that as I will be upgrading by 15ah (85 to 100ah) I might need to upgrade fuses ie the one on the battery terminal, is this correct?
Many thanks

I'm not an electrician but if you upgrade the Cube Fuse to a higher capacity then that would mean a higher current flow before it failed. Could the wiring between the 2 batteries take this increased load?

There will be a small drop in (new rated) battery internal resistance. This will potentially increase the max charge and discharge current very slightly.

I would leave your fuses alone and keep an eye on the cube fuse. If it pops consider upgrading the rating slightly.

Sound like a decent upgrade. I wonder if my Beach 75ah leisure battery could be replaced with a 100ah when the time comes.
Anyone with a Beach done this?

Thank you, both @WelshGas and @yossarian The battery shop advised this battery as exact size as the VW originals but only 256£ for two and free delivery tomorrow. I'll let folks know if anything untoward happens. Thanks again.
Where did you buy the battery’s from ?

I’m considering a pair of these for our 68 plate Ocean. Were they a perfect fit and how have the performed?

Perfect fit and performing well for couple years.
Great news. I bit the bullet & put the order in. They should be here in the next couple of days. Worth noting, I bought the pair through ABS eBay account, it was cheaper than their website - £250 for the pair delivered.

Perfect fit with a potential 25% increase in battery life, well worth the money.

Very impressive and without the added complexities of LiFeO4
I have it even better as a 57% usability increase…
Larger capacity and deeper discharge…
From 85Ah to 100Ah
Can be taken down to 20% (rather than 40%) occasionally without damaging them
2x100x80%‎ = 160 :. usable range of 12*160= 1,920 watts
as opposed to
2x85x60%‎ = 102
12x102‎ = 1,224 watts

So that’s 1920/1224‎ = 1.569 times
Or
160/102‎ = 1.569
An approximate 57% increase for £250 the pair !
This is a simplification as the voltage drops in lockstep with the percentage, it’s probably a little less. But then as the batteries are new it may not be too far from accurate at least for the first couple of years. I wonder if the fridge &/or heater is still activated at 21% that is the real usability.

Thanks for the post and all the assistance.

Hi there. I’m looking into new batteries, keen to know how these are holding up? All I’ve read on the forums say go with the big naw brands so I’m wary of going with an alternative to those
