We had a lovely VW camper in the 1990s which we sold when our third child came along and now it is time for us to get an upgrade. We are going to purchase a VW California having been debating whether to do this or a transporter. We have a person in a wheelchair in our home and are looking to have a "person hoist fitted" and maybe a ramp for emergencies. Any people with experience of doing this please let us know.

This company do wheelchair accessible VWs but obviously it’s not exactly what you’re looking for. Nevertheless, perhaps they are worth talking to as they are probably aware of available systems?

Just to say we came up with a fantastic solution - we bought a VW California Coast and we’re only the second family in the country to install a hoist by Autochair (Smart Transfer). A great deal of thanks to VW Conwy who helped us pull this off!
