Guys, I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar to this in this location? it looks like it has been rubbing? i have read about sliding doors rubbing the rear arch and front driver door dropping issues but not one specifically on the tailgate in this location. FYI 2023 Model and no bike rack.

Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks
Not seen that before. Looks like the rear of the panel covering sliding door slide needs pushing in at the top.

The panel definately looks out of alignment agree with @WelshGas and there is also some abrasion on the inner panel above the damage. Have you had the Cali from new?

That Panel can become bent if it's removed incorrectly.

The fixings that retain the panel snap and need replacing , I wonder if it's been removed and not refitted correctly ?

Push the panel in at the top to see if the panel moves / flexes , if so it's not fitted correctly/ bent. You may be lucky and be able to get the clips to clip in and seat correctly

Is there damage on the corresponding spot of the tailgate reveal ?

How to remove

Edit Note a thin long wide peice of wood inserted into the gap between the panel and rail will help to not bend the panel whilst removing it (it takes some force to pull the clips out, the clips invariably break so make sure you have some to replace the existing (I.e. all of them)

Thanks Team, there is a little spot on the tailgate (attached), i pushed the panel in and i heard a click from something behind it (albeit i can see its moved noticeably, so perhaps it wasn't seated correctly? I didn't own the van from new so perhaps that panel has been off for something before? I'll keep an eye on it20250612_125635995_iOS.jpeg

Glad to be of assistance, don't forget to touch up the paint and re lacquer to prevent rust.
