Quick post as they have only just arrived I will also probably do a write up of the whole process.

For anyone with the pin hole issue in the blinds, I have decided to not go down the warranty route and fight VW but give it a go myself.

part codes of my 2020 model.

( 7C4845320D & 7C4845320C)

These are the updated blinds with part codes

7C4845320D & 7C4845320E

From opening I can see the improvement of the blind material to what feels like a more fabric that softer almost paper of the earlier version's.

I have all the erWin documentation to strip out the van to hopefully get them fitted with not to much stress.

We shall see.

Also have this issue and was ok’d for warranty replacement but decided against as VW wanted our 600 forever and wanted to remove nearly everything internally.Thought process was that we would end up with nice blind and a list of new problems
Will tackle the replacement ourselves so good luck and keep us posted

Worth doing yourself think it looks 2 hours each blind with me taking my time, with no requirement to remove anything substantial.

I still need to do the write up.

Would really appreciate a quick run down of the removal/fit process when you get 5 mins Thanks

I have just repaired a broken string on my front roof blind, didn’t take any pics but process is straightforward to remove and refit if not a little fiddly. Note mine is a 680 so front one is slightly different. But hopefully below helps:

1. remove two screws that hold window winder in place and remove winder unit.
2. using flat prying tool (suggest a plastic one) ease the Velcro strips open that are holding the roof liner to the blind housing.
3. you should have roof lining free of blind now and can get hands in to remove the screws holding blind in place. On the 680 the blind has 1 mount on the winder side and 2 mounts on each of the other 3 sides. The mounts are white L brackets holding the blind to the van roof.
4. once all screws are removed I was able to turn the blind 90 degrees and pull through the roof lining whole as its rectangle. (this might be the part that different on a 600 as not sure if its square and if so you might struggle to get through hole)
5. I then replaced broken string and remounted in reverse.

Thanks for the run down, nice to have a bit of info before jumping in.Didn’t even realise that the front skylight/blinds were different in 600&680
VW agreed to replace ours under warranty but wanted our van for at least 10 working days and wanted to take out cabinets, seats etc and we decided to give it a miss thinking it might lead to more faults than a few pin holes.
I install physical security and always looked at the blind mechanism and thought it couldn’t be that complicated but was reluctant to replace with another one that suffered the same problem
After seeing eojeel’s post about the blinds being upgraded/re designed I will be replacing ours
Appreciate it- Graham
