Hi
My 12 volt socket in the kitchen and in the roof are not working.
I have read all the posts about this and checked the four blue fuses under the passenger seat.
all fuses have 12 volts and continuity.
the other 12 volt sockets work fine , as do all the lights in the kitchen area and in the roof.
if any one has any ideas I would be most grateful .

This is what I would do.
Identify the relevant fuse by removing one and see what stops working.
Once identified check continuity of supply from fuse to socket .
If that's OK then check continuity to earth from socket to chassis.
All -tve wires go to a chassis earthing point.

If the fuses are OK then it must be a wiring problem.

Thank you for the info, will go and try that, and report back

Cheers

checked continuity from earth to socket outer, all ok
checked supply from fuse to centre pin in socket , nothing.

any idea how to remove the socket ? does the silver face panel come off?

Checked from fuse to socket outer, shows voltage 12.8 v

So far i have only checked the kitchen socket, as I have not had time to pop the roof in between the rain and wind.

any help gratefully received

See Posts 8 to 12.

This is the multi connector under kitchen unit floor access via cover in floor.

Check for power on Pin 6, both sides of connector, and continuity from 12v socket to multi connector.

Thank you, will check it out.
Many thanks

Had a look today.
Power on pin 6 right side of the socket (Female)
no power pin 6 left side of the socket (male)
no continuity from pin either side to 12 v socket

Any ideas ?

So you have power and continuity going to the connector but not coming out of the connector.
I would presume then a faulty connection within the connector if you have power going in but not out.
Maybe worth disconnecting and a good clean.
I would have thought you would have 12v on both the In & Out Pin 6 and no continuity to 12v socket if there was a wire break between the connector and the 12v socket.

Just to clarify, I disconnected the socket under the sink into its two separate half's and tested that way.

should I have been testing with the socket connected?

Just want to make sure I have done it right. which I think I haven't.... been a long day..

Ok my misunderstanding.
So, with the plug disconnected, if you have No continuity between the 12v socket and Pin 6 Left side then that would suggest a break in the wire to the 12v socket on the kitchen side.
Probably the easiest way to resolve is just run a new wire to the 12v socket.

See Posts 14 & 15 regarding socket removal.

Many thanks for all your help.
shame its not a easy fix, not sure how to run the wire/tap in to.

I really do appreciate your help and advise.

Is it a common fault for a wire to break on the Cali's ?

No, but it happens.
It might just be a connector on the back of the socket.
If you remove the socket and check then it would be easy enough to run a new wire down inside kitchen cabinet to Pin 6 on the kitchen connector.

Checked the back of the socket, still no power.
just tap into the wire for pin 6? and suggestions how/what to use? scotch lock?

funny how the roof one is not working as well..

Many thanks for all your help

For a quick test yes Scotchlok would do it, and if that works convert to a more secure fix such as soldering. An Autoelectrician could help with that if you don’t have the equipment.

Many thanks, ill have a look at the weekend.
Thank you

Hey, I have exactly the same fault with no power to the kitchen and roof socket - so this must be a common fault. Fuses are all ok. But I think there is something more complex here. Using my multimeter it shows 12v at the sockets, but as soon as there is any load on the socket, like a charger plugged in, then the voltage drops to zero. Very weird, I am assuming some sort of bad earth / connection or something, will need do dig into it more this weekend. Let us know what you find!

Hi,
Sorry to hear you're having the same issue. Like wise if you figure it out please let me know. and I'll keep you posted on what I find.

I have exactly same issue, 2019cali, power both sides of fuses, but nothing at sockets!
3 out of the 4 sockets dead, could be a loom issue. All contacts look clean, rewiring them looks like only solution, unless someone has an answer!
