Not all require a filter vin number check shows if required or not, filter is about £20 extra.

I don't understand the logic either, some gearboxes specify filter replacement. Some are original filter for life, this is only evident when the vin number is checked !

I spoke to the Indie Garage regarding changing the filter change was prudent and best practice when changing oil in any mechanical situation, they agreed and could not offer a reason not to replace when carrying out the DSG service and oil change.

Incidentally Two VW dealers could not confirm if the filter would be changed as part of the works, not even when pressed for info, despite both charging different prices for the works (both VW dealers local to me).

It makes me wounded if VW do change the filter on any ?

My thoughts exactly and my indy agreed too. At times it seems like in an effort to appeal to big fleet managers VW (and other van manufacturers) have cut corners on their servicing schedule to artificially suppress running costs which in reality ends up doing the exact opposite in the real world!

But normally fleet vehicles have been disposed of as soon as out of warranty!

So the Goal of both VW and fleet operators is fulfilled, cut costs !
