I have been using a starlink mini for quite a while now in the rear skylight on a GC600. I have been using a suction mount I think I got from amazon a while back but recently it stopped sticking, the problem with the suction mount is that it is difficult to open the skylight with it in place.

I have been working on something more stable and permanent where the starlink can be installed or removed in 10 seconds, does not impede the skylight opening and both blind and fly screen work with the starlink in place.

Design is now complete and I am onto printing prototypes with ASA-GF, resistant to the direct sun temperature and also UV resistant.

The solution is a frame that fixes around the starlink with 2 mounting arms at each end.

2 brackets hook over the inside lip of the skylight frame and 4 small self tap screws secure it to the window frame. This is all inside so not breaking any weather seal.

The frame basically drops into the brackets. If you want to make it permanent (while driving) 4 small screws secure the arms to the brackets, or you dont install the screws for temporary on site use.

In the back corner of the window frame there is an access to run the power cable down behind the roof liner and wall down to the electrics cabinet, again this does not get in the way of the window or blind operation.

Will post again when I have tested, and will share the files for anyone interested in building one.

great idea and yes can be pain with suction pads, what size printer bed will you be using as this is very large?

Looks a great improvement over a suction mount. Put me down for one of these….

is the rear skylight on the 680 the same size as the 600?

if you could measure the inner frame and let me know.

I bought a StarVmount.
Works well at 80mph in France.

Takes all my strength to twist it off the magnets from the mag pad base.

The starlink used to overheat whilst underneath the front roof light.
Used this in 37° C temperature outside in direct sunlight and it never stopped working or overheated.
Inside the temp can get up to 47° under the heki window.

Problem on the GC600 is the roof is GRP not metal :/

That was the issue on my Laika MoHo.
Aluminium.
So I used Bostick ISR 70-03 to bond the mag pad to the roof.
If I ever need to remove the mag pad, it’s a case of using fishing line to remove the Bostick, then scraping off the residue.

Hi I would be keen to print one too as it looks like a great solution, if you could share the files. I have a Bambu Labs A1 printer, so not sure if the print plate is big enough. Regards Sandy

I don't have a 3D printer - could I buy one of these directly from you, please?

Hi dimension
On the 680 the front to rear inner dimension ( length )is 535mm
I did not measure the side to side ( width )

Yes, I can probably do a run of a few sets, won't be until mid october however.

Sounds like it is the same then, be useful to have a picture so i can confirm its the same frame.

I will be sharing the files once I complete testing.

The main frame will not fit on an A1, I could look at options to split into joinable parts but what i would say is you need to print in a high temperature filament so that it won't soften in the sun, I dont think the A1 will handle ASA-GF.
