Well is this what VW has become?
I went to book my Cali in for a first MOT, Brake Fluid and a quick look at the passenger seat (warranty issue) about a month ago and was greeted on the phone by who knows who from who knows where to make an appointment?
I thought I was dealing with my local van centre but this clearly wasn’t the case as now, only two days before my appointment is due I received a check in email that didn’t reflect what I had asked for and at an appointment time different to that what I had been given?
Having called them up once more I spoke to a rather sarcastic lady who made me feel like I should be telepathic or something and clearly wasting her time, but reluctantly confirmed the correct detail and off I went somewhat angered but confident I would get the job done.
That was until a few minutes later I got a couple of texts to say I couldn’t have the customer waiting appointment I had been given, and a second to say that they would not be looking at the warranty item as only a leisure dealership is allowed to deal with California warranty items.
So I called them up once more to try and reason with them to no avail and basically ended up telling them to stick it!
I’m now left with less than two weeks before my MOT expires and cannot find anyone to do it?
I also look like missing out on my warranty claim as i only have two more weeks before the warranty runs out.

It’s the new world.
You’re going to have to travel further now to find a better dealer.
Brum Swansway isn’t too bad. How about Coventry ?
Heard good things from them.

I have already written Derby off and Nottingham is no better, to save you the hassle.

Neither are helpful with any aspect of the cali.

Birmingham van centre have always been good with me and have taken care of my van when it’s been in there

First time I’ve heard/seen the phrase “leisure dealership”. I wonder how many such dealerships exist?

My son had a similar experience with Audi and a car he had bought from them. After servicing and mot, 2 weeks before the warranty expiration, they failed to identify a leaky water pump that was over £1k of repairs. My top tip is put everything in writing, cc to VW complaints dept and be persistent. It took my son 4 months but the repairs were undertaken and funded by the dealership.
When you call other ‘dealerships’ note names of who you speak to and times. It’s a sad world but you need to keep the evidence and be persistent.

So for warranty items is it California dealersonly who could deal with this as I need to get some things done.
I know VW reduced the number of this in the UK, but thought you could still take it to a Van Centre.

Anyone know where the nearest California dealer to London is or where I can get this info please?

I use Listers VW in Coventry. Not perfect but after hearing others horror stories, I'd definitely recommend them.
