Avoid Skegness and head to Cromer

Taking the Laika into CamperUK, then want a place to stop on the east coast by the beach for daughter and 2.7 year old to visit beach, pub and maybe some amusement arcade to play 2p slots.
Was thinking Skegness but looks a little rough for my liking.
Middle of September.
Visited Cromer last September and that was very nice.
Any reccomendations ? Cheers.

I'd avoid Skegness, in my opinion it's a dump. As you say further along the coast is nicer. Hunstanton has a good beach but can be very quiet. My favourite along that coast is Wells-next-the-Sea. Lovely little former fishing village. Some nice pubs and the excellent Holkham Beach is nearby.

+1 for Holkham (and Wells-on-Sea) it’s also pretty close to Blakeney for some seal watching if the little ‘uns tire of the arcades

Only been to Skeg once however I thought the promenade was pretty good. Once behind that the town is not, imo, a holiday destination.
You can't go wrong on the Norfolk coast, although the main attractions are quite spread out. Some lovely beaches and towns /villages. Great bird watching too if that floats your boat. Cley and Blakeney are top spots in my view.

Try Ceethorpes, more genteel than Skeg, nice little fairground on the beech, small amusement arcades, narrow gauge railway, with possibly “the smallest pub on the planet”, and probably easier parking for the Laika. along with excellent fish and chips on the pier, and a brand new lifeboat station to visit.

Skegness is a dump. Cromer if you like a static caravan. Wells is nice. Brancaster Beach is lovely. Burnham Market if you’re posh.

Agree with all the above. There are some lovely campsites in the area from CAMC and CCC sites to small independents.
If you want to go back several decades, try Sea Palling. It is a safe beach with 9 breakwaters which form eight safe lagoons in which to swim and paddle. Fish and chips and kiss me quick hats. Mainly locals as it is slightly off the beaten track and definitely not as posh as Burnham Market. We once saw Hugh Grant in BM at The Host. Is that posh?

That’s my famous celebratory claim too, met High at Princess Grace hospital in Autumn 2011, I walked out of the elevator with CD’s to burn Mohamed Al Fayed CT scan data on, and nearly walked straight into him.
I said, oh, Hi Hugh, and then shuffled around him.
I remember him being very tall, (I’m 6’ and he was taller than me), and he was very handsome. He said hello, and gave a wonderful smile. Proper nice Geeza.

Skegness is OK if you’ve got youngsters. We sometimes take our 4 year old granddaughter there, as it’s our nearest seaside place. The Seal Sanctuary is worth a visit, then there’s the fun fair, donkey rides on the beach, lots of ice cream sellers, plenty of amusement arcades - our granddaughter likes to play on the 2p tipping point machines. If you want a bit more peace and quiet, there the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve just south of Skegness, there’s also a few RSPB places - Frieston Shore, where they have breached the sea wall and it’s slowly turning back into saltmarsh, and Frampton Marsh RSPB is nice to walk around. There are a few places to visit inland too - Gunby Hall, Tattershall Castle.

That said, we love Norfolk too, we’ve often stayed at Sandringham CAMC site.

If you are working your way along the north Norfolk coast, this is a good site as well. Although I prefer the Deepdale campsite.
