Hi,

Can someone tell me what a good insurance company would be for my new campervan. I am 31 years old, anyone has an idea how much it would cost per year for me?

Thank you,
Steam

How long is a piece of string? It depends totally on your circumstances.
Driving history.
Vehicle value.
Post Code.
Where you park.
? Business use.
Milage you intend.
Number of drivers on insurance.
Many factors personal to you.
Annual premium anything between £500 - £1000 depending on voluntary excess.
LV seems a popular choice but make sure they realise it is a VW California NOT a conversion or they may not offer Insurance.

sure, yeah i understand; wanted to gauge price :)

I see, so with LV.. I guess they favor conversions and not VW California's?

No, they favour the California compared with Conversions.

Both Comfort insurance and Caravan Guard are worth trying. Comfort were far cheaper by phoning them than the on-line quote.
The on-line quote included breakdown cover which i did not need as I have 5 years fee cover. Taking it off reduced my quote by £120.

Hi, I use Performance Direct which, after my ordeal when I first bought Beryl (see threads around Feb 25) were helpful for a new owner and not overly expensive if you have no no-claims driving a camper. Be sure that you read the small print!

we use Comfort Insurance, worth phoning them and talking through all the variables mentioned by others. Having a tracker reduces the cost as does off-road parking and UK only use. Expect £450++

I have just been getting quotations for a Beach. Both Admiral Gold and Aviva Zero were coming in lower than Comfort or CaravanGuard

Our 6-year old (40k miles) Coast 6.1 was £250 /year with Admiral Gold fully comp with tracker, parked on driveway at night, clean license, no accidents or claims, and previous camper/motorhome experience… and I’m in my 50’s. They were half the price of Caravan Guard and VW and a quarter of what Adrian Flux/NFU and another specialist quoted. Admiral acknowledge the vehicle is a Campervan but as coach built by VW they class as a car, so much cheaper it seems (for me at least)

I always find it a tough call balancing the cost of insurance (given the cost of the van) vs cover.

I may overthink, I may dig too deep, but having spent all that money, and getting all those weekends away, I feel just under 1% to protect it (and its contents) is a small price to pay.

£250/300 from the likes of Admiral, LV etc would be nice but when you look at the cover levels, things like Personal Belongings (£500 vs £3000) - is that enough to cover everything considering you probably carry an awing worth that alone....
Then there's Onward Travel (£150 vs £1500) - I wouldn't accept anything less than £500 even when I had a car.

I mean there are lots of aspects to Insurance I know, and even the base policy can be more comprehensive when you pay more.

Then I ask myself what do I really need if I haven't claimed in 12+ years.... but knowing my luck!!!!

I hear ya… and wrestle with all those questions too!

We have been with Safeguarde for four years with no claims, premium this year rose to £824. Just renewed with LV for £270 using compare the market

Yes, funnily enough I just got my renewal through from LV. Very happy.
