Hello,
We have had a 2011 T5 California (180 bhp twin turbo) for 14 years and which is very much part of the family. We had to have a new engine fitted 4 years ago and hope we can continue to use it for many years to come but have a major problem with a leaking roof and damaged bellows for the last couple of years - see attached images. Note shortly after buying it, we had the van checked out at a VW dealer who confirmed that the recognised leak problem in that era California had been fixed under warranty.
A couple of years ago (ie after we had had the van for a decade without problems) we noticed a small leak coming in through the front of the roof - we live in Cardiff and up until this summer it rained a lot - which we put down to small holes in the bellows. We patched these and resealed the bellows with NikWax spray and had no further problems until we put the roof up this summer, not having put it up at all over the winter and spring, and found major water and mould stains on the elevating roof ceiling and severe degradation of the bellows. It is well and truly trashed.
Please could people recommend anywhere that they have experience of who would be able to have a look at the roof, replace the bellows and do whatever else needs doing - I think this is going to include replacing the roof lining and possibly all of the seals.
Thank you very much for your help.
Nick
