DVLA Recall 76AF

I've been trying for more than a year to get a VW main dealer to sort out this DVLA Recall 76AF https://www.grandcali.com/en/wdb/re...ation-for-volkswagen-grand-california-owners/ which was issued in October 2024. I've tried all the main dealers in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk who just haven't a clue what to do. I've spoken to the Customer Care people at VW in Milton Keynes who haven't helped at all. For all other Caravan and Motorhome dealers its pretty standard to get a local LPG Gassafe Registered technician to certify a gas system on a camper van but seems impossible for VW main dealers.

Has anyone else had this done and can you recommend a VW dealer anywhere in the UK to get this done please?

Not specifically about that recall but indirectly related - When we had the early issue with the kitchen tap needing a different type fitted with our MY22 that involved disconnecting the gas and removing the sink/hob combo to fit the new type. Once fitted and everything reinstalled the dealers sent the van to a registered gas safe outfit to have it tested. They actually did a full habitation check including all the electrics and provided certs. Dealer was Listers VW Van Centre in Coventry.

Have you checked with the DVLA Recall List, because according to that list there is no such recall for 2024 VW Grand California in the UK.

Try a VW California centre. If you use Google AI and search on ‘vw California centres in uk’ you’ll get a list of those centres with staff trained on all California vans specifically

Listed under Crafter, even although they have a Grand California listing - DVLA excel lists it as "76AF" - But this is an internal VW Ref, each country allocates a formal ref:

DVLA has used R/2024/360 - the dealer should recognise this and registered keepers should have had a formal letter from the DVLA - it would have been sent to the owner at the point the recall was issued. The number of affected vehicles is related to cars that are applicable on the DVLA database.

Responsibility is on VW and they will know how many have or haven't been done.

If they can't do the work, I would call DVSA helpline as this formal Recall and as such they will take it up with VW directly. (Probably VW UK & VW Global HQ)

Thank you all for your replies, that's much appreciated. Yes all the dealers I've already tried were VW California dealers. First step I will try Listers in Coventry and use the DVSA helpline as a last resort, but as we all know, VW have to sort this out one way or another. Many thanks again
