Another scorching red hot day that would have been great down at the river in Arley.
But the wife’s defender hasn’t got an awning and two chairs and table.

Unfortunately the t7 beach without 3 zone climatic control is not fit for purpose in these warm weather days.
The two grandsons got heat stroke the last time we went and had to stop 3 times to get them in the front so they could evaporate the sweat bailing out of them.

So disappointing.

Love the t7 beach it’s perfect, apart from no rear air conditioning unit.

Had to stay at home today and play with the grandsons in the blow up pool instead.

Fingers crossed VW gets the non rear air conditioned californias sorted with a no option in the future and it just comes with it in.

Must be possible to rig up a portable Aircon unit with one of these chunky power banks from Jackery or Anker ? Heath Robinson maybe, but it would work.

Did you not specify 3 zone climatic control when you bought it.
The spec sheet i asked my dealer to print out clearly shows."Climatronic 3 zone air conditioning system"

My sales guy said and I quote.
“Not worth having as it fights with the front climate and it’s never getting at the same temperature, just having the normal one will be fine”
Wish I had recorded it tbh.

They also told me I needed the additional fob operated heater so the diesel camping overnight heater works continuously.
Which I know now is also a lie, as the fob starts an electric heater that heats the coolant around the engine up and sets the front dashboard blowers off blowing hot air in and not the camping diesel heater like it used to in the 6.1.

Sold the lie. Bought into it.
Disappointed. Rejecting the vehicle, as it’s not fit for purpose of transporting 5 people in warm weather !

Also, it was a pre built car sat at the German port, so the premise of getting it earlier was pushed.

Does your van have what is called the Top Package.

The Top Package (option code Z2H) for the Volkswagen California adds premium lighting, advanced driver aids, and interior convenience features. It typically costs around €2,300 to €2,800 depending on your regional market and base trim. [1, 2]

What the Top Package Includes
    • IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix Headlamps: Dynamic headlight control with LED daytime running lights and dynamic cornering lights.
    • Dynamic Light Assist: Automatic main-beam control that adjusts to shield oncoming traffic.
    • Darkened LED Tail-lights: Sportier rear-cluster appearance.
    • Poor Weather Light: Integrated static cornering and foul-weather illumination.
    • 3-Zone Climatronic Air Care: Enhanced climate control with a separate auxiliary control panel for the passenger/camping area.
    • Interior Conveniences: Automatically dimming safety rearview mirror, rain sensors, illuminated vanity mirrors on sun visors, and "Coming Home / Leaving Home" light functions. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

No, the only extras on the beach were
Velor seats with heated seats.
Heated steering wheel with side assist.
Mats
4 keys
Lights in poptop.
Towbar
Heated screen
Additional electrical heater with fob to engine heat coolant

This is what VW says about the heating package. Sounds like your sale person got it totally wrong.
For your VW California T7, this code means your camper has a dual-zone thermal setup split between the front cabin and the rear living space:
  • Second Evaporator: A secondary air-conditioning cooling block dedicated entirely to pumping chilled, dehumidified air through the vents in the rear passenger and living compartment.
  • Second Heating System: A separate heater core circuit that channels engine heat into the rear of the van when driving, ensuring passengers stay warm without starving the front driver's footwells of heat.
This system manages live driving climate automatically, regulating the internal zones via temperature sensors so you don't have to keep adjusting the fan speed manually while on the road.

do-able, but should i really have to do that on a brand, latest design, 5 seater vehicle that sells for $70K ? Most lower cost cars that seat 5 people have air con vents that blow cold in the back.
