Use and choose sites as carefully as we can. Primarily for security, then location near places we want to see and visit, then facilities on site and finally because we are on french plates and don’t need any hassle if parked off grid. In UK the prices are crazy compared to what you get in France and Spain for about half the price.

I’m not absolutely certain which corner of the internet you had in mind, but in re-reading my reply to Welshgas, it comes to mind that you may have thought that I was trying to make some sort of point about the small boats crisis. I clearly wasn’t, but I’m grateful to you for the opportunity to clarify.

I’m sure that you’re not the first person to read something on the internet and jump to false conclusions.

If there is one thing you should try and avoid its campsites in the UK. They are a ripoff and simply just not worth it when you compare to France - this June the most we paid was 32 Euros and that site was next to the beach, 2 restaurants, 3 swimming pools, splash pools etc. However most others we used ranged from 18 Euros to 28 Euros and ALL of them had a pool and either a restaurant or a pizza bar. Having once paid £28 for a field with a solitary porta loo in the UK I vowed never again. Responsible wild camping wherever possible in rip-off Britain.

Disagree I’ve stayed at some great sites in the U.K., pity you’ve had a bad experience.

Just been quoted £450 for 7 days in Pentewan Cornwall for one person. Please don’t tell me this isn’t a rip off.

I agree Kev that £450 over £64/day is steep but most sites charge for two so unlucky if your on your own, all holidays assume couples. One example so you have your choice of going elsewhere. How much does the ferry/chunnel cost ?
